Donegal Connect Festival

27th Sep 2019 to 6th Oct 2019

Donegal Connect is a collaborative project between the private and public sector in Donegal aimed at creating new opportunities for our county.

Through the project we want to engage with our Diaspora, both overseas and within Ireland, and anyone considering coming to Ireland, to entice them to make the journey to Donegal to explore the county and to find out why it is a wonderful county to visit, to invest in, to live in and be educated in.

While our focus is on generating new economic opportunities for Donegal, Donegal Connect which takes place over a ten day period from September 27th to October 6th 2019 has something for everyone. With world renowned Donegal artists playing at iconic venues throughout the county, Donegal plays being performed, a range of business, investment and skills symposia with key speakers to walks, runs, island visits and a 7 a-side competition, to workshops on genealogy and the practical “ins and outs” of returning to Donegal there is definitely something for everyone not to mention the unique food experiences being specially organised as part of the project.

Of special note will be a facilitated workshop with our Donegal Associations and networks both oversees and within Ireland on Friday October 4th in the Villa Rose Hotel, Ballybofey. We hope to share good practice experiences, discuss current and future challenge and identify solutions and opportunities.

We are delighted that we have the support of a range of Donegal Connect ambassadors who are working with us to support and drive the project. These include Paul Mc Ginley, Packie Bonner, Sarah Jessica Parker, Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh to name but a few.

As well as having the involvement and support of a strong  local committee which includes Donegal County Council, Letterkenny Institute of Technology, Udaras na Gaeltachta, IDA Ireland, the Local Enterprise Office, the Food Coast, Pramerica, Abbots Diabetes care and Randox, the tourism sector and local businesses, the project is also supported by Fáilte Ireland under the Global Irish Initiative.
